Let's Talk About Community Safety

admin 120 comments

How do you feel about the overall safety of our community  and what are your biggest concerns or worries?

What steps do you think our community should take to improve safety and security for everyone?

Are there specific spaces, areas, or neighbourhoods within your locality that you feel are particularly unsafe, and why?

How do you believe we can better communicate and collaborate as a community to address safety concerns?

Are there any specific safety initiatives or programs that you've seen implemented elsewhere that you think would be beneficial for our community?

Do you know who to report community safety concerns to?  Do you have confidence in reporting your concerns?

Tell us what matters to you and share your ideas in the feedback box below

  • I think overall the area is safe but there are areas where particularly on dark nights I do not feel safe walking due to lighting or how visible you are to others. For example, the walking path between Park Avenue and Lyle Road does not feel safe as you are not visible to others due to the trees and bushes which are blocking visibility of people walking on this path.

          • A zebra crossing or and island to cross the street on Albert Road would make it much safer to cross also the lack of buses is making the older residents reluctant to leave the house especially at night (Coppermine Your Voice Warm Spaces 10/02/25) PF

                • Bike track was upgraded but lighting is very poor. Not safe to walk at night. Weekends are very rowdy, with teenagers drinking setting off fireworks.

                  • Feedback at the Cargill Centre café 24/02/2025
People tend to think living in a village like Kilmacolm that everything is safe but community police should be advising everyone young and old on how to keep ourselves safe such as locking doors, cars, garages, bikes etc and informing us on how not to be scammed by "door traders". There should be vigilance in all areas!

                    • Parklea Branching Out feedback 23.01.2025
We need to fix the potholes at Parklea, I think there needs to be more lighting across the walkways leading to Parklea.
I would also like more police presence especially at night when people are finishing work.
