Let's Talk About Community Safety

admin 120 comments

How do you feel about the overall safety of our community  and what are your biggest concerns or worries?

What steps do you think our community should take to improve safety and security for everyone?

Are there specific spaces, areas, or neighbourhoods within your locality that you feel are particularly unsafe, and why?

How do you believe we can better communicate and collaborate as a community to address safety concerns?

Are there any specific safety initiatives or programs that you've seen implemented elsewhere that you think would be beneficial for our community?

Do you know who to report community safety concerns to?  Do you have confidence in reporting your concerns?

Tell us what matters to you and share your ideas in the feedback box below

I think there is a real issue with the Bridge of Weir road coming in and out and people ignoring the 20Mph sign.

      • At Belville Gardens Community Hub on the 06/12/2024 an attendee gave the following feedback:
        - It would seem from the media that the town may be the most unsafe area.
        - Alcohol and drugs impact the local area.
        - Meaningful activities for individuals etc may be a way of gradually having a positive impact on addiction/illness.

          • I feel that no cover is given by the wardens on the bike track between Montrose Avenue and Kilmacolm. If you go for a walk at the weekend or school holidays all you get is drunk young people. Why do the Police/ wardens not go onto the bike track

I think there should be more traffic monitoring at school! There should be regular parking attendants / safety attendants at schools to keep children safer on roads. I do not feel unsafe in Kilmacolm.

              • Violent knife crime seems to be increasing with yet another stabbing locally in the middle of the day and yet we never see any police in the area. (St John's Warm Space 17/02/25) PF

Young people congregating at Inverkip beach lighting fires, underage drinking and leaving rubbish on beach lots of young people travelling by train from out with the area making train journeys quite intimidating for some people

                    - Don't see the wardens anymore and there is a lack of police presence nowadays.
                    - The response times are too long when calling the police or wardens for anti-social behaviour.

At the bottom of Bow Road there should be traffic lights or a system for safer corssing, it is currently unsafe to cross.

Fix Weir Street paths and provide more lighting.

Kestrel Crescent has bad rodents, is very unsafe and loads of fly tipping.
