Let's Talk About Community Safety
How do you feel about the overall safety of our community and what are your biggest concerns or worries?
What steps do you think our community should take to improve safety and security for everyone?
Are there specific spaces, areas, or neighbourhoods within your locality that you feel are particularly unsafe, and why?
How do you believe we can better communicate and collaborate as a community to address safety concerns?
Are there any specific safety initiatives or programs that you've seen implemented elsewhere that you think would be beneficial for our community?
Do you know who to report community safety concerns to? Do you have confidence in reporting your concerns?

**Responses from Port Glasgow Community Council - 25th November 2024**
1. There should be more lighting across public paths especially on Fore Street, Port Glasgow.
2. There should be more wardens around Dubbs Road.
3. The number for the wardens need advertised more.
4. There is a hazard with the Church Street gutters inside the alleyway. The gutters are deteriorating and could fall on someone.
5. There is a fly tipping issue at King Street, Port Glasgow.
Group of 2 females and one male at the Inverkip Church Warm Spaces:
Some issues within Inverkip with youths kicking doors, but there isn't enough for them to do.
Higher visibility of wardens could perhaps help.
No spaces or areas of concern locally - all would feel happy walking home at night.
They would report any concerns to the community council and have no issue reporting these.
They would like to see another defibrillator in the village as it's a fair distance from one end of the village to the other.

I think local police should be doing more talks in schools, i believe this would be helpful in terms of engagement.
AS - I am a dog walker and often frequent Battery Park and the dog fouling issue is awful. I often pick up 4 dog poos on my travels, 3 of which are not from my dogs, which I shouldn't have to do but I believe it is the right thing to do.
Unfortunately there seems to be problems at times, sometimes vandalism. Perhaps there are some who are in need of some meaningful activities for their time. Maybe the youngsters could be involved in a scheme which allows them some opportunities to make use of their time, energy, creativity, etc in a positive constructive / productive way. Something that gives them purpose, value , possibly status or qualification/s towards a better future.
Need traffic lights and a pedestrian crossing on Albert Road and Ashton Road as cars go very fast and have to cross in between parked cars which makes it hard to see cars coming especially when there's a problem with speeding on that stretch of road (Coppermine Your Voice Warm Spaces 10/02/25) PF

- I do not know how to report concerns and where to if it is not a police matter.
- I feel like reporting concerns should be advertised better as right now i do not have the confidence to report anything.

There should be improved street lighting throughout Gourock.
I think there should be improved powers / support for transport police / wardens.
I think there should be more funding opportunities for youth working groups.
